Mt. Whitney is just above the town of Lone Pine in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California. We started the 22-mile round-trip hike at 1:15am under a full moon. We summited the peak (14,505ft) at approximately 8:45am (7.5hrs) and we got back down to the trailhead/portal at approximately 4:30pm (14.5hrs total).
